I did some tests with Vista64 and XP32 with my new Q6600. Doing 4 conversions to my iPod made all 4 CPU run almost 100%. The system as a whole was still responsive to my keyboard/mice commands. I thought that that was with 12.0.308.
Don't know what happened but I upgraded. Now with the 12.0.318 only the first CPU runs high and the other 3 do just a little bit. Did I mess up something with my Vista configuration. Or is it MC which has changed.

What I miss is a setting in MC that it can take over the whole PC. Probably this will be a Operating System thing but MC can try to take more CPU power. Especially with Duo´s and Quad´s
Maybe an idea for future versions. It would help reducing conversion time :P

Check in your conversion settings how many simultaneous conversions MC
can do at a time if you want it to use four cores try
using 4 conversions at a time.

I have 4 simultaneous conversions ..

Is it possible that all the conversions are done, so that it's using the cache now?
MC runs concurrent downloads, analysis, conversions, and uploads to a handheld. However, it only does one upload at a time since this is all a device can nicely support.

Not sure if I understand you correctly.
All conversions are made simultaneously. All CPU's are used but only one to the fullest, the others around 30%. It used to be between 90% and 100% for all CPU's. It indeed concurrently converts, uploads and other things. I convert more then 500 songs, so it's busy for a while.
But why not use the CPU's for 100% ?
