How can I sort by artist, or for that matter by album, and ignore the preceeding "THE" in the artist name...
So "the Beatles" shows up in the B's instead of the T's???
Thanks in advance.

Tools, Options, Tree & View, Sorting, Ignore articles.
This should be an install default in my opinion.

Thanks, it seems to work for artists of the bat, then if I add a sort by album it sort these two ignoring the "the".
And I agree it should be the default.

it would be very hip if there would be a place were i could add articles to ignore so that the visconti movie il gattopardo would be under the g, the movie der untergang under u, de domine under do etc. would make it a bit less US orientated. :)

I personally remove The from all artists. Albums I do not, though, because ... well, now that I think about it, I'm not really sure what conclusion caused me to decide this.
However, it is nicer because it keeps my artist list thinner (not so wide). I don't use too much with sorting in general, anyway.
I think the sort ignoring articles is a POOR default choice. I do not like it when it does it. It annoys me. Then, when I'm viewing a list I keep getting confused with the "T" when it starts with "The" ... I don't like that. No default change please!
