Title: Mysterious Lock-Out

Hello everyone. This is my first post.

I'm evaluating version 12.0.318.0, and I love it, but I'm experiencing a strange phenomenon.  Sometimes after changing a setting or trying a new feature, even though all running programs (including MC) continue to run great, and the mouse moves and folders open and everything feels otherwise normal, no other programs will start up. Task manager won't even run. If I turn a running program off, it will not re-start. I have to unplug the computer to open programs again.

I'm use to freezes in which nothing responds. What kind of computer phenomenon am I experiencing? It only happens in the middle of using  J River.

It doesn't sound like Media Center to me. Have you run a virus scanner lately? It doesn't quite sound like hardward to me either, but a memory test wouldn't hurt.

Can you type after the problem occurs (is the keyboard working)?
Does ctrl-alt-del work to start the task manager?

Start the task manager, wait until the problem occurs, and then look at resource usage, notice anything strange?
