I started ripping my DVD concert collection into individual video clips (one per song) about a year ago. It's nice to have a session mixing audio and video clips.
Works well doesn't it!

Actually, I don't use MC.12 for ripping the DVDs :-[ since I "think" it can't do the splitting into individual files for each chapter or song as I want to do. I may be wrong, since I haven't tested the functionality lately.

No I use a "well known been around for ever ripper" that lets you split by chapter...then I just rename each of the VOBS as "01 - Songname.mpg" in a Artist/Album stucture (just like music) and import the lot into MC12 which then treats them just like audio only tracks - can mix and match in playlists - all good.

Yeah, that's what I do too ;)

I don't know who Jim has a bet with but I'll throw in my 2 cents. I selected all 3 but I only have a couple videos, no movies. I don't see the need to rip movies when it's just as easy to insert a DVD and then have less data to back up. I use images right now just for Pix01 uploads although I plan on moving from my current photo organizer to MC when I get the time.

OK. So now you owe me 8 cents. ;D

That's my reason as well..
... rather than whether MC is able or not to handle video ;)

Ripping the concert DVDs and splitting them into separate "songs" has given me a whole new approach to the way I watch those DVDs. Now I can watch the whole concert if I want or make a mix-playlist with audio and video, only video (mixing several concerts of the same or different artists), etc. Something I could'nt do at all by inserting the DVDs.

i see the point for music vids, but i think he was referring more to movies.

Ah, OK.

FYI I also use the ripper to break my TV Episode DVD's up into chapters (one per eps). I even pull the main movie from Movie DVD's as a single file. All of which makes it much easier to manage IMO in MC than copying a whole bunch of DVD Stuctures to disk and then search through them all. I then let JRWorker do his thing and generate the Thumbnails - all looks good in T'View
Thanks

Jim, how did our posts get over into this thread? There, that's another 2 cents. ;)
