Unable to sync Flac files to iPod using latest version of MC 12. Error message states "insufficient rights or unsupported file types." I am able to play back Flac files in MC on my PC. Am I missing some type of conversion utility? Please help, thank you.

Under options for your iPod, specify 'Convert unsupported formats' for the audio conversion mode.
-
Thank you, I'll give that a shot. What will Flac file become after conversion? If not Wav, can conversion be set up to avoid compression?
-
That's up to you, but also limited by the device.
-
I'm not in front of my ipod and MC setup so please forgive the ignorant questions... do specific conversion setups exist in MC for converting Flac to whatever you choose? Also, any plans to support Flac > iPod in the near future? Thanks.

AFAIK the iPod's original firmware does not support FLAC files, sadly. The only way to play FLAC (and a multitude of other file formats) is to install an alternative firmware like Rockbox, but that firmware is completely different from the original one.
From Apple's website:
Audio formats supported: AAC (16 to 320 Kbps), Protected AAC (from iTunes Store), MP3 (16 to 320 Kbps), MP3 VBR, Audible (formats 2, 3, and 4), Apple Lossless, WAV, and AIFF
