I have posted this bug several times, but J River does not seem to care in this case. Maybe I am the only one with this problem, so I would like to ask: Nobody else with this problem?
First, the problem: In Image playback I use quite a long caption line to be displayed in this shiny blue ribbon at the bottom of a slide show. Unfortunately, when the caption line is too long, nothing is being displayed at all. This is a bug for me! Has anybody else seen this?
Second, the dilemma: MC allows to create and handle as many tags as we want and gives us user plenty of flexibility to store metadata about media files. But then, what's the use of storing all this metadata, if we cannot properly use it and display it.
Image playback allows to display only one single caption line of information. For many slide shows (like my fine art collection) this is simply not enough.
I think there should be more options available to display tags (as there is with track info) during a slide show, such as multiple caption lines, but also more flexibility in the presentation of this metadata such as flexibility of fonts, size, colors, position, transparency, duration, framing etc.
Anybody happy with the current situation? I am definitely not.
By the way, in MC11 the caption line adjusted the font size according to its length. This was not a good choice as the font could shrink to such an extent as becoming unreadable.
The possibility of introducing a newline character in the caption line and thus creating multiple caption lines would be a first easy fix, more options for presenting the metadata would definetely enhance image playback.

Just so you don't feel ignored... I certainly don't have this issue. Of my 60,000 images or so in my main MC image library, not a one has a caption field filled in, and I rarely (other than for silly home photos that are in a separate library) play photo slideshows of them. I use MC to manage my photos and search/find things, not really for display generally. If I do use it in that way (I have a few slideshows on my Video Wall system running in MC) I wouldn't want it to display ANY text at all.

Do you like how the thumbnail caption configuration works? Perhaps the image playback caption could be changed to work in a similar way.

Yes Matt,
I think your suggestion is a good approach.

Jaguu, I'm with you on this one.
I have extensive metadata for my photos and would like to display things like album, year/month, caption and place at once... The problem is, that this would take up a fair bit of screen real estate. Multiple lines is a good idea...
...what i'd like to see is a standard caption during slideshow playback... but perhaps pausing the slideshow could bring up an alternative caption with more details. I see a photo I want to know more info about ("Where was that taken again??") I pause and I can see a custom caption where I can see the place field.
I think it would be great sometime down the track if there was an "Info" overlay we could bring up (with a command during image or video playback) which would show the tags... We have track info which works well for audio (there is no visual aspect to this), but it's definitely lacking as far as visual media is concerned.
Thoughts?

Build 359 and later allow multi-line comments for image playback.
Hopefully available here later this week.

Thanks Matt. Gee you guys are great :)
