folder.jpg is a standard, I have never heard of any player using a folder.avi

I can't see how or why you would want or need this.

maybe if you elaborate you can convince someone.

"... I've never heard a player ..."

Out there a many players which support not even half the features MC does - isn't that the point why we're all using MC?
Instead of a still picture there could be video playing - I think that might give a nice feature.

When would it get played?
Part of the reason for Folder.jpg is it gets shown
in parent folders in Explorer

I think what tombert's trying to say is that MC would show a video thumbnail instead of a still when browsing the library. This would require quite a few resources I expect (depending on how many thumbnails are on display at any one time). It's an interesting idea though, I wonder if it would work visually.

My initial idea was not to show videos playing when in Explorer View, instead I thought about Theater Views Visualization. But of course the idea fits into more subjects ...

I think this is an interesting idea... Don't know how it would work with: (a) "thumbnail" generation resources, and (b) viewing performance (multiple video streams can be hurtful on a CPU).  But it sure would look cool!
