Apologies up front assuming this topic has been covered elsewhere - I tried several searches but wasn't smart enough to find an existing thread.
I'm on a late build of MC10 and would like to upgrade to the latest MC12 build. Are there any known issues with doing so, or any recommended upgrade steps to take? Obviously, a fully backed up set of drives and library are a must, but any / all other recommendations would be very valuable. My library is at about 60K files.

The upgrade path from MC10 --> MC12 would be very similar to the path from MC11 (or 11.1) to MC12. I would search for upgrade from MC11 to MC12 tips in the forum, as I know there were things available there.
I believe you can have both versions installed side-by-side. Make sure to make a backup of the old library before you start! When you install MC12, I believe it should find and upgrade your library, but this conversion is one-way-only (you can't re-downgrade the library).

11.1 and 12.0 can coexist, but not 10.0 and 12.0.
Just install MC12 and go. It can convert your MC10 library.

Ahhh... Okay. Didn't realize there was that specific of a limitation.

I have noticed that some plugins may get confused when MC10 and MC12 are installed side by side.
In the past I have posted a few answers to similar questions. The replies were for MC11.1, but upgrading to MC12 works exactly the same way.

IMO, in general, this is the best system:
1. Back up your library (or each library individually if you have many)
2. Backup your cover art folder (if you use the default MC10 cover art location under the MC10 program folder.)
3. Uninstall MC10 with all cleaning options selected (using the MC10 uninstaller)
4. Install MC12 and buy the upgrade license/register if needed (e.g. if the trial period is already expired)
5. Restore the cover art folder to the old location (if it was deleted during the uninstall)
6. Restore the library (or create and restore the libraries if you have many)
-- but check the linked threads out for more details.

Don't you have to have MC10 installed when you install MC12 to qualify for the upgrade pricing? If you do the full uninstall, wouldn't it only offer "fresh pricing"?

I don't think that has changed.
EDIT
I.e. the uninstaller does not remove the license info. MC10 must have been previously registered on the same OS installation, but it can be fully uninstalled before installing MC12 and buying the upgrade.

Ahhh... I see. :)

Thanks for all the replies so far - I wouldn't have necessarily taken the step of uninstalling MC10, but that's probably a really good suggestion. The good news is that this is on a dedicated server, so there aren't a lot of other interactions going on. Hopefully it will be relatively seamless.
