Title: My Ipod nano does not show any song after synching
Post by: Deivit on November 03, 2007, 04:52:50 pm
Hi,

I just synched my Ipod Nano (8GB) this evening, as I do every Saturday, and I have a problem. Once the syncho has finished apparently there is nothing inside the Nano to play. No songs show up. However, MC is finding 1200 songs in it and also, if I open the Nano in Windows Explorer, the music seems to be there.

Thing I've tried so far that haven't worked:

- Reinitialize the ipod via pressing Menu+Round Button.
- Reinizialize the ipod via MC, deleting all the content.
- Synchonize again.

This has never happened to me before, so I'm lost.

Any suggestion will be very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Try a restore using iTunes. That should fix it.

Would you believe that I have never installed iTunes? If there's no other chance I'll do that.
Thank you very much, Randy  :)

Unfortunately Apple no longer provides the separate updater, so iTunes is the only way to do a restore or upgrade the firmware.

There is no problem having MC & iTunes installed.  Just don't open both at the same time.

Also, if you are not going to use iTunes, you don't have to import the library or set any options.  Just make sure you:

1) Turn off the option that says "open iTunes when iPod is connected".  This is on the summary tab when the iPod is plugged in.
2) And set the option that says "Manually Manage Music". This is also on the summary tab.

Randy,

Downloaded iTunes, installed it with MC closed, plugged the Nano... and voilą... everything is right now! I'm gonna check those options now to be sure that iTunes does not interfere with MC.

Thank you very much for your help, Randy!  :)

If the updater can be isolated, let us know.  We could post a copy.  Apple shouldn't require itunes to be installed.  Maybe we could test whether they are a monopoly or not.

Same exact problem here with Nano.  Never an issue before.  Says it is fully synced but nothing shows up.  Going to dig up iTunes and update.  Damn.

Just a bump for this.  It fixed the same problem for me.

Fixed three Nano's for me (2g, 2g, 3g).

Still holding my breath for iPhone support :(
