Title: Apple Quicktime Security Issues (can affect MC users)
Post by: John Gateley on November 07, 2007, 08:10:02 am
CERT has released an advisory about Apple Quicktime prior to version 7.3:

The Quicktime engine may be used to playback some content in Media Center. If you have Quicktime installed, I recommend upgrading to 7.3:

And, if you do, I'd strongly recommend following the installation instructions at Codec Guide (http://www.codecguide.com/quicktime_installation.htm) so you have a less annoying install.

Quicktime is a required component for iTunes.

Ah, I see. Know what? I survived 18 months using 2 iPods with MC and never having to install iTunes in the process.... but finally I had to.

Thanks, Glynor.
