I upgraded automatically to the new version of MJ, and it stopped recognizing my CD burner.
I tried a burn with Ahead Nero, and it sees the burner just fine. I have burned over 75 CD's with previous versions of MJ, also. After the upgrade to new version... no burner.
If I go to Options>Settings>CD Writer Settings, and click on "detect", nothing happens. Suggestions?

Poat your system info from MJ Help. Your problem sounds familiar but needs to be verified.

Stay tuned for a few days, please. We've introduced a bug in our CD writing. Should be fixed tomorrow or the next day. Sorry for the problem.

Andy,
Your ASPI is old but I don't think that would cause the burner to fail. Have you looked on the Goldenhawk site to see if your burner is listed? If not (and sometimes even if it is, such as in my case) you'll need to check the "generic" option for burning.
If it's not recognizing even the existence of a CD burner, I'm stumped.
Your config is the same as mine, and I have no trouble if I use "generic".
Let me know.

Bug meet MJ users, MJ users meet bug.
Now that we've been formaly introduced maybe the bugs will be kinder.

Hi,
I found at least two "wnaspi32.dll" files on my computer. I deleted the one I found in MediaJukebox 8.0.437 installation path and kept (of course...) the one (version 4.71.1) in the system folder and after that MediaJukebox detected the burner.

I dont think you needed to delete "wnaspi32.dll" from Adaptec, since you can choose within the MJ Options between Internal ASPI layer and Adaptec ASPI layer (if this is the one previously installed)
Bob-Arthur
Anyway, it couldn't be bad to update your ASPI - latest version 4.71
Your sys info :

Ok...
If I keep the "wnaspi32.dll" file that comes with MediaJukebox 8.0.347 all boxes in the burner configuration window is greyed out, meaning that it's not possible to detect any burner hardware or check for "Use generic driver" or "Use internal ASPI layer (requires restart)".
There are no options because the's no way to put a check mark in any of the options in the window.
When I get rid of the above mentioned .dll file everything works: My Cd burner is identified and the "generic driver" option becomes active, while the 2Use internal ASPI..." is still greyed out.
I haven't tried to burn anything yet, but i guess things are working as it's supposed to do as long as the player has detected my burner and as long as I have "wnaspi32.dll" version 4.71.1.0 installed in the 2sysdtem" folder.
The installation path for Media Jukebox on my system is D:\J River\MediaJukebox\...
OS: Windows ME (Norwegian)
No "aspi32.sys" found on the system...

Happy that it works.
I think that if you have "greyed out" check box for the "use internal ASPI" option, it's only because you deleted the Adaptec wnaspi32.dll file --> MJ detected that there was no other ASPI layer installed, so no choice available.
Yves.

AJ,
Try if new build (8.0.348) works for you without modifications.
internal ASPI..." is still grayed out.
Internal ASPI is only available on NT, 2K, and XP.

As I mentioned in another thread, the newest build (8.0.348) fixed my problem completely. Back to normal for recognizing the CD burner and burning CD's. I had the same problem as AJ, who I assume is happy now too...
Thanks for the suggestion to update the ASPI drivers, which I did this morning, but it did nothing. Only the new build fixed the problem.

That's correct, Bob! Everything's working as expected with the new version.
Thanks for the replies BTW
