Yeah
more and P2P networks are filled with OGG files :-), High Quality Audio is finaly coming up.
I downloadeded firestarter from prodigy and it's PERFECT!

I'm afraid there's something wrong with my hearing. I ripped a song and encoded it in ogg with quality settings from -q 5 (160 kbps) down to -q -1 (45 kbps) and I can not hear the difference between any of them and the .wav file. When I get the tagging worked out, I think I'll re-rip and encode everything to ogg. I'm interested to see anyone else's listening tests.

OGG doesnt get closer to MPC. Forget OGG.

Ape is the one.
Played through my main Hi-Fi its without doubt the best encoder there is. All other lossy formats just sound flat.
When played through my portable player or in car mp3 if fine.
But remember if you rip to .ape now you can always change it to anything else that comes up in the future. Hard Disk space is currently cheap and getting cheaper all the time.
Go .ape

I agree. Ape is the way to go.

When MJ9 comes out with its rumored hypersuperautomassripping functionality, I'm going to do exactly that. For now I still shiver when I think of all the work it took to get the whole CD collection into MP3!
