I'm afraid there's definitley still duplicate problems
in MC. I've completely gutted the library twice in the last two
weeks and still they appear :(
-
And again... I've got a theory however...
My Media's on a removable hard drive.
I think changing the drive from USB port to usb port maybe causing MC
to believe it's a different drive or something and reimporting the files.
The drive letter however is never changing...
-
OK I think my USB drive theory was wrong, however I just watched the duplicates appear.
Here's the sequence of events that happened.
1. Yesterday cleared out library again, no duplicates.
2. Today Went into Audio. According to the status bar there was 11.9 days worth
of Music which is about correct.
3. Placed CD in drive, and ripped CD (one cd only mind).
4. Went back to Audio, status bar jumped up to 13.4 days worth of music,
went to a snow patrol album, and sure enough Duplicates had arrived.
During this time the USB drive was never unplugged, the machine not restarted,
MC not exited etc. Whole thing was seen in less than 10 minutes.

I'm having the same issue. Many of my tunes have 2, 3 or 4 copies of tunes in my library even though there is only one underlying file on my H drive. I am using an internal drive in my computer that is dedicated to music storage.
I have been trying to synch an ipod and a "virtual ipod" with the library, so I assumed that this had something to do with synching the ipod.
Is there any library tool to remove duplicates from the library?

even the labor-consuming iTunes would work _ where you can select a view of all duplicates. as i understand it you are supposed to be able to move a collection that includes duplicates into a playlist and then select remove dupes. it has never worked for me and i am using the latest. beta. what do you if you succeeded in removing the dupes. move the playlist back into the library. i am not sure that works.
