hello,
i use track # in several views to show me the amount of songs underneath a selection (thumbnail). it would be very nice if disc # could work the same way, showing the amount of discs (albums).
thanks

BTW: is there a reason why i get no values at all in panes for disc # when using details view

I'm sorry, but I don't understand what you mean by this. Could you perhaps post a screenshot?

I have no problems with displaying the disc number values in all possible places. The field works like any other field for me.

I think he is using the top part of a viewscheme to get track totals.

Alex, in library browser (not panes) views, the [track #] field actually shows a file count for each grouping...

so, if you use [track#] in the thumbnail text area of the customise current view dialogue, you get a sometimes handy report on the file count beneath each grouping.
gappie, interesting thing regarding the [disc #] field, it is indeed empty, regardless, not even a ubiquitous <varies> !!

5 seconds..lol what a close shave :D

indeed, I didn't even get the "warning - further posts have been made..." message from the board. I wonder if we beat it, or has the feature AWOL again?
-
:)
indeed marko, that was what i meant. no value at all when using [disc #] in 'library browser views'. and as far as i know, no way to fool the system either. it seems like it is a choice that has been made, "by design". was wondering why.
here a screen shot from my test db.

this led me to the next observation. when i make a user defined calculated library field i always get <varies> even when i use formatnumber in the calculation. when i make a field using integer or decimal it always gives me the average.

while we wait for this to be picked up, what about artists beginning with Q?
I've only got Queen in my library, I don't have any Queensryche...
What do you have filed under 'Q'?
:)
-
I see. I didn't remember that feature. I have not used it since trying it when it was new.
The problem looks like a bug to me. Here's a screenshot in which the first "Name" column is the Disc # field.
