Title: MC12 goes nuts when a network share goes offline...
Post by: mjcumming on December 03, 2007, 08:19:59 pm
I have noticed for sometime now that when you shutdown a network share that contains music files in the library, MC goes into high CPU use with progressively increase memory use generating tons of page faults.  The library itself is on the local machine.  The machine is on a network.  The target library is reached in for form of \\domain\target.  Ie. this is a DFS target.

Is the auto-importer running and what is the setting of Protect Network Files?

I'd be willing to bet that this has something to do with it.  Also, this option: Options --> Tree and View --> Advanced --> Display Missing File Image in Lists (slow on network drives).  Try disabling that.  If it doesn't go away, I'd say it's likely the Auto-Importer trying to decide one at a time to remove the file in question or not.  Perhaps you need to set the Auto-Importer Fix Broken Links option to No.
