Title: Facebook integration requests
Post by: park on December 05, 2007, 09:49:41 am
Loving the facebook integration. Very smooth. A few tiny improvements would make my life a bit easier though.

1. Could we have the login window remember our email address and/or password. It's annoying typing it out wholesale each time.

2. If we click on a playlist and "send to gallery>facebook", could MC populate the gallerey name, and description, with the playlist name and notes automatically, like it does on pix01. That would be groovy.

3. Images from my canon 40d still arent being rotated before being sent, meaning i have to go to facebook and rotate each image I've uploaded. Portrait images I've uploaded from other cameras have been fine. (Might be something to do with them having numbers in the rotation field, whereas MC is intelligently rotating my 40d pics).

Thanks again for the good work on this.

Just to be safe, you better send us the 40D.

Too late matt, already fixed.  :)
I'll test it tonight.

Well, I don't know 100% that it fixed the 40D issue.  It fixed a test case.  But just to be safe you should send us that 40D.

I'm just glad you guys aren't fiending over my EOS 5D (which, despite the lower number, is a higher-end camera than the 40D)...  ;)

Doesn't have live view or the upgraded AF.  Now if you get the the upcoming 5D mk II I'll have to borrow it for a while to make sure we work with it.

What, exactly, is the point of buying a high-end D-SLR with a true through-the-lens viewfinder and then using the crappy, 480x360px LCD viewfinder?   ;)

Oh, and AF is for wussies.   ;D

No, seriously... The 40D's AF is slightly better, especially with fast lenses.  When we bought the 5D though the 30D had just come out, and the 40D was just a twinkle in a designer's eye.  We'd probably still have gone with it though, as the faster continuous shooting modes (especially in RAW) is important for live event photography (which we do a lot of).

Actually, though, since you mentioned it... We just put in our request yesterday for the funds for a new camera to replace the 5D.  We're looking at this: http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=139&modelid=15710

Or perhaps a scanning back for our Blad (which obviously wouldn't replace the 5D but would be pretty darn nice).

Live view is great for checking focus.

I forgot to check to see if it works now. I'll do it tonight.  ;)

Live view is a landscape photographer's dream.  You can check focus all over the place and it does mirror lockup really nicely for you.

The resolution difference  between the 1Ds MkII and MkIII isn't all that much from what I've been hearing.  Kind of pushes canon's glass a bit far.

Park,

Let me know about the rotation.  If it isn't fixed email me a file.

Thanks Darkpenguin,

It works a charm. Are you on facebook? Have you put any photos up on it?

I'm also waiting for the 5D MkII

Everything seems to be rumours however!

Very cool.

Not really.  I have a bogus account to test that this stuff works but it isn't me.
