Idea: If Tabs (split view setting) are enabled, how about enhancing the Locate (right-click menu) feature such that if you are holding the Ctrl key down (for example, could be Shift or Alt) when you click Locate->[somewhere] that MC12 open the location in a *new* Tab? This way you can preserve your original tab contents and just open a new tab at wherever you Locate request takes you [this is kind of like Firefox and what Ctrl-click on a webpage URL link does, in my configuration/setup].
Also, if it makes sense, there are probably other places where this would be nice to have in MC12 if Tabs are enabled (like clicking on a Favorites menu drop-down item, for example).
Thoughts?

This is a great idea. Using Ctrl would match the behavior of Firefox and most other Tab-enabled browsers too, so it'd be intuitive.

+1 ;)

Good idea. I thought the same when tried the new tab features in 386.

My vote on this one

It was only a matter of time wasn't it :)

I've been silent awhile, but I have to say this tab thing is a great idea.

Just saw this, and I will add my vote also.

It's not a bad idea when clicking something in the tree.
It's a little tricky since you can multi-select playlists with ctrl/shift + click in the tree to drag them around. This would fight with that.

Can you elaborate? I don't see what you are referring to in reference to the original idea/request: to have the Locate feature support putting the results in a new Tab if Ctrl or Shift key was held down when you click on the Locate <whatever> option in right click menu (like Firefox and other software).
-
Right... We didn't want (necessarily) to be able to open FILES in another tab, just the Locate function. Great idea on the Tree support though, Matt. As usual, you took the limited idea and made it better.
