Title: Version of Monke's Audio in MJ 12
Post by: Sadashiv1 on December 16, 2007, 07:29:50 am
I have been happily using MJ version 8 for years. I still use Monkey's Audio plug-in 3.97.
In my opinion MJ is probabaly the best program out there. I am sure MJ 12 will even be better.
I have some question related to upcoming MJ 12.

1. Is there a 3.97 plug-in available for MJ 12 or I have to upgrade plug-in?
2. Can I save my library (~60 GB) of .ape (3.97) files and MJ 12 will be able to read it?
3. Do I need to convert all my .ape files to a newer version of Monkey's Audio?
4. With MJ 8, CDs cannot be burned with CD text. Can MJ 12 do that?

Hi Sadashiv1,

I too started with MJ8 over five years ago. During these years I have been able to carry my old library
data and files to each new MC version. MJ12 is no different in this regard.

1. MJ12 doesn't need a separate plug-in. Monkey's Audio support is built-in.

2. You can import the files without problems. You can also import your MJ8 library (or libraries if you
have many), but you need to do some manual steps. You may want to search my recent replies in
this forum board for more details.

3. No. MJ12 can read, play and tag old v. 3.97 files just fine. However, MJ12 writes new files in the
current Monkey's Audio format, which is not supported in MJ8.

4. MJ12 supports CD Text burning. Usually it works if the burner supports CD Text. Possibly some
devices are more compatible with this feature than others.
