Title: What are the optimal settings for FLAC encoding?
Post by: Evelyn on December 18, 2007, 08:02:15 am
Hi community!
2 days ago I started using MC12 in order to encode my entire CD collection to FLAC format. Before I get carried away with all 400 CDs, I want to make sure that I am using the optimal MC12 settings for FLAC.
Can anyone give me advice on which settings I should use for FLAC so that I don't have any regrets after I rip CD # 399?

I found an old thread from 2005  that gave some configuration settings (along with suggested directory structures).  Is there anything more I should do beyond what is described in that thread?   http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=29157.0

Any/all input is much appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Welcome to Interact, Evelyn.

Just rip with the default settings.  FLAC is a lossless codec, so the settings have no effect on the sound.  They can only provide slightly more compression (1 or 2%).

FLAC plug-ins are included with recent builds of MC12.
