Title: Finally re-installed XP!
Post by: Ilmar on August 10, 2002, 01:50:40 pm
Hi

I have finally reinstalled XP Pro, and it lasted about 100 beta releases of MJ8 without damage. Stable or what! MJ8 was not its demise, but the admixture of SCSI and ide hard drives on the same system.

With the new install of XP, I can now appreciate the brilliant visualisations, which never really worked for me properly before..

The reinstall has brought to the fore one problem, which has been touched on before, but I raise it again. MJ is about the worst program to reinstall... ever!

Nope, not because of the registration, I have an MJ7 license, but simply trying to remember all the settings for all the different functions, options, fields, encoders, skins. It goes on and on..

As I have worked through so many of the beta versions, I have never had to completely rebuild all the settings before, so they have evolved with MJ8 as it grew.

MJ desparately needs some way to back up all the settings. I think it will take a few months to get my MJ back to how I had it...

As I think Matt or Nikolai said, MJ options are expensive real estate.. yup, there are so many of them, all in one li'l box
