Some of my favorites:
They're coming to take me away haha (the flip side on the 45 was the same song played backwards)
Green Tambourine
Pictures of Matchstick Men
In the year 2525
Why is the Overture from Tommy listed as "The Assembled Multitude", I thought it was the Who.
And then there's Bloodrock, DOA (anyone remember Timothy?)

Dr. Demento, right? Probably not quite a 1 hit wonder.

On BloodRock2. In '71' while in a telescope mirror making class I played this album over and over again (good rhythm for grinding a mirror). I'm sure everyone else in the class has it burned into their brain paths permanently. Lucky in the Morning and Fancy Space Odyssey were other tracks I liked on that album. Strangely enough it's one of the few pieces of vinyl I've lost...

Dr. Demento Only Spins Them

Yeah you got it. Jerry Samuels.
-
And Timothy was in your list too, King. It was performed by the Buoys, and written by Rupert Murdoch (of the Pina Colada song fame)!
j
(Timothy was not a mule)
-
Did the Knack produce a hit other than My Sharona?
-
Good Girls Don't.... (not as big of a hit)
What about Klaatu? Did they have any hits?

This would be a specifically US orientated list, yes?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Take_That#Other_facts_of_interest
Take That are one of only seven acts in the history of the British Singles Chart whose tally of number ones is in double figures. These seven acts include Elvis Presley (21, 18 different songs), The Beatles (17), Cliff Richard (14 : six of them with The Shadows, one with The Drifters, one with The Young Ones), Westlife (14 : one of them with Mariah Carey), Madonna (12), The Shadows (11 : six of them with Cliff Richard, two of these also with The Norrie Paramor Strings) and Take That (10: one featuring Lulu). The ten #1s were almost all consecutive: starting with "Pray" in 1993, they had four consecutive #1 hits, followed by a #3 single ("Love Ain't Here Anymore") and then six more consecutive #1 hits, ending with "Shine" in 2007.
Here in the UK, we've had some good, and some down-right ridiculous...
Stan Ridgeway, St. Winifred's Girls School Choir, Renee & Renato, The Goombay Dance Band, Keith Harris & Orville... (deary me!!)
Fat Larry's Band, Joan Jett, The Icicle Works, The Toy Dolls, The dream Academy... (better memories!!)
There's a couple of UK lists here (http://1hw.org/index.shtml) and here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/One-hit_wonders_in_the_UK) and if you want more, try a Google search (http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=UK+one+hit+wonders)
It's fascinating how awful most of these are, but that they remain in our minds, bringing up real life™ bookmarks when we hear them again years later...
"what was her name again?" she was pretty cool/that was a lucky escape!!!

I updated The Lists
Tip: Sometimes I Can't Find the Original Artists On Yahoo Music So I Also Search For The Song Name.
Like:
"Touch Me" by Rui Da Silva featuring Cassandra
It's Not On Yahoo, but A Gunther & The Sunshine Girls Version Is, And It Has A Fun Euro Sound To It.
I was also surprised that there was no versions of
"Around the World (La la la la)" by ATC On Yahoo That Was A Good Song
I do Like A Good Euro Sound, I Also Love Disco Both Are Good When Doing Aerobics
