Title: Find and Replace Letters
Post by: benn600 on January 15, 2008, 12:12:05 pm
Is there a way that I can use Find & Replace (or some other MC feature) to rename files by removing all letters \[a-z]\ ?

If there's no cool MC like way of doing this, you'd have to resort to less than or equal to 11010 find and replace operations where you replace each letter with nothing. If you have more than 10000000000 (just over one thousand) files it may be worth it.

Not quite sure why you would want to.

But I actually wrote some code to do this sometime ago in a plug-in.

Actually, benn, King wrote a GREAT plugin called "Replace master".  It will do exactly what you want and a LOT LOT more.  Only thing is, King's a bit of a temperamental Artiste and he pulled the program for reasons known only to himself--we all loved it.

Maybe if you ask him REALLY nicely, he might put the program back up.
