Title: Problem ripping with Media Center 12
Post by: swalton on January 19, 2008, 10:29:54 am
Running Media Center 12.0.404 (registered) and am getting a cdripper error "Error piping data to external application"  This appears to data related as it has consistently happended on Disc 3 of the Phillips recording of Gounod's Faust, but discs 1 and 2 ripped fine. I tried ripping from a different drive and got the same results.  I do get a file nametruncation message when I begin rpiping that CD and then shortly thereafter I begin getting the "cdripper error" dialog boxex and Music Center hanges (or at least waits on a looping dialog) until I exject the CD.

Any suggestions for ripping this one?

have you tried ripping that disc with an other programm or on an other pc? maybe there is something wrong with the disc? or there is some protection?

It rips fine with Windows Media Player. It fails the same way when attempting to rip on another drive on the same machine. It's a 1986 CD, so I doubt if there is a copy protection scheme. Also discs 1 and 2 ripped fine with Media Center. Only disc 3 fails this way.
