Title: I have few suggestions :)
Post by: matanlevy on January 24, 2008, 04:09:04 pm
Hi all,
First of all i would like to mention the i love using "JRiver Media Center"!

Now I have few ideas that in my opinion can make "JRiver Media Center" even better.

===============Gather Movies Data===============
An option that will automatically get Info about the movie titles i have in my library, information like plot, genre, cover, cast and so on..
For Example, if i have the movie " Disturbia" on my hard drive (Xvid). Now when "JRiver Media Center" find my movie as it searches my hard drive, i want to have the option to make it search for the info and automatically Tag the file based on the Info it get from the Internet.
Also i think it will be nice to brows the Videos in other way so you can easily see the info about the movie like plot and etc..
There are few programs out there that does this pretty good like "Extreme Movie" - but they do only this...

===============Changing the covers source==============
The chances that "JRiver Media Center" will actually find a cover for my songs are really poor, you might consider changing the source for the covers
===============Getting Lyrics plugin====================
I think this is pretty simple :) i am talking about this- http://www.lyricsplugin.com/ which already works great on WMP and Winamp.

===============subtitle support========================
Not much to expand

===============.MVK support===========================
i dont know why but it plays this files though it doesnt add it to library.. please help me

I knows that what you have read above few seconds ago might sound really stupid, but I really do believe it will be cool.

Thank you For Reading

You may find your MKV files under Documents in MC.  This happens when MC can't find DirectShow filters to read the enclosed content.

For subtitles, try the up and down arrows while the movie is playing.  This will work for some movies.

Jim, the MKV thing is a real problem. In almost all cases, people will tell you that the files will play back fine once the media type is corrected to video, so the directshow filters ARE there. Can we get some kind of option to check so that we can "Force mkv filetype to be imported as video", so that it doesn't go looking for filters that exist, are correctly set up but it just can't find during import?

Is there any away to point MC to the right filter?

If we can play the files, the filters are there. I think it would be more useful for us to be able to get MC to ignore the filter's perceived lack of presence, and to be able to import anything ending in .mkv as a video file regardless... should we choose to force this option.

In the next build mkv will be imported as video.

===============Gather Movies Data===============
There are already so many programs that does this very well. I belive MC could never match this programs in the same way unless most of other improvements are put aside for a long time. Therefor there have been discussions of a interaction between other movie collector apps like DVD Profiler. This would be alot easier I belive.

Here's the thread: http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=44114.0 (http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=44114.0)

There are several lyric plugins, that uses different databases. 3 Plugins that I have found so far. I'm using them all. If I can't find a lyric with one I try the next and so on. I find lyrics to about 90-95% of all my tracks.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! The best $40 I've ever spent, if you don't count anything that requires mandatory check-up afterwards.
