Title: MC Alarm scheduler
Post by: cosmicfx on January 28, 2008, 08:34:32 am
Hi

Does MC actually have to be open & running for the alarm scheduler to work?

Thanks

You may try the scheduler Plug-in. It's under Services & Plug-Ins in the left tree pane. Just click "Add Task" and define what you want Media Center to do and when it should be done.

You'll need to have to select "Tools -> Options -> General -> Run Media Server at start up" if you want Media Center to start itself.

Windows itself has a scheduler too. Use it to start up mc.
Your bios might have a feature that switches on your pc at a certain time as well.

Thanks Carda.

But if you start MC via windows or bios, would it actually be able to start MC palying music?

I want to wake up to music with MC, so far running the MC media server works, as long as I do not shut down my pc.

Check this link out:

You could probably schedule MC to start at a certain time and then a minute later schedule the "MC12.exe /Command Play" command to execute.

You could also play around with using the "MC12.exe /Play [item]" command. That will actually do both in one step, but you have to specify what item (full filename) to play in the command line.
