Since build 421 I no longer fully understand how MC12 is sorting albums.
My view scheme is pane: group by more|album
i.e. when I select all my various-artist albums:
While the albums are sorted in the correct order (marker2) the sort sequence in the album pane (marker1) is quite strange.
Album-names starting with 16... are sorted after albums starting with 20..., 30..., 40..., 50..., 60..., 80..., 100...

Did I miss something?

I can't reproduce this.
Is the view scheme set for Library Field > Album, or are you doing something more advanced?
Also, what are your settings in Options > Tree & View > Sorting?
Thanks.

Thank you Matt for your fast reply. I try to provide the requested info.
As you can see I didn't use any sophisticated expressions to build this view scheme :-[

Did some more testing.
- the sorting error occurs in multiple artists only
- it must be exactly three albums with a leading "16 ...." in the album name fort the error to occur
- as soon I change one of this albums to i.e. "x16 ....", gee, sorting is fine again
- as soon I produce a fourth album with a leading "16 ...", the sort order is correct again too
Program bug?
-
I can reproduce this.
It happens with albums starting with 12, 13, 15, 16, 18 and 19.

Could someone with the problem email a library backup to matt at jriver dot com?
Thanks.
-
Library backup e-mailed to your address. Hope the attachment is not too big (10MB) to go through.
I wish you a pleasant weekend and a good start back at work on Monday.
I have a day off then, because Carnival is beginning here.

Thanks for the library.
This will be fixed in the next public build.
The issue was with a short-circuit optimization in the sorter that skipped fancy number handling when leading characters matched.
