Title: Video Conversion for the D2
Post by: Mr ChriZ on January 30, 2008, 01:53:47 pm
Got my D2 Yesterday It's looking good! :-)
Will probably put up my first looks review later.

Was just wondering in the video conversion options for handhelds,
there's an option to convert to WMV 320x120.  Is there an advantage t
to using WMV over divx? or vice versa? Will the cowon read the WMV's?
I guess there's only one way to find out! :-)

The cover art bits working well though currently syncing lots of albums across in APE format :-D
Looking forward to those 32GB SDHC cards coming down sufficiently in price so that mortals can buy them!

We have a nice canned conversion set up for the WMV 320x240. We don't have one for divx. We're not sure which one is more widely supported (probably WMV).

I just tried MC for the video conversion, but it's much to slow.
Even on my Athlon X2 5000 to convert one Lost Episode was going to take around 45 Minutes.

Comparitively JetAudio which ships with the D2 can do it in less than 10 minutes.

For the D2 there's an application called iLove which converts to divx's nicely and does a great job of it :)

You gotta compare quality of the video as well for the time - some apps do it super fast by doing a terrible job at compressing (big files and poor quality) etc.
