Title: One pesky MKV

I am able to playback my MKV files in MC but I just came across one that only plays audio in MC. VLC plays it fine. Haali picks it up when MC tries to play it back but I get zero video, just audio; it was also acting really fussy, and wouldn't respoond to seeeking.

any ideas?

I checked it out in -gspot and it was able to be rendered using the very same filter chain that MC is supposedly using?.

Can you tell if MC has built complete filter chains? While the file is playing, right-click in the video window, and choose DirectShow Filters -> Copy graph info to clipboard, and paste the info here.

In both cases the graph is fully connected. Cyberlink decoder uses DXVA hardware acceleration while FFDShow video decoder does not. This may be the problem. However you can try removing "JRiver Bitrate Monitor" from the graph and see if that makes any difference.

DXVA does break some of the x264 encodes completely whereas other files playback but dxva is simply not working and offloading to the gpu, it appears the is one of the files that gets "trashed".

I turned off the option in Cyberlink for this particular file, and it now plays back in MC.
