Title: Media Jukebox 8.0.345
Post by: Nikolay on August 07, 2002, 01:19:04 pm
Media Jukebox 8.0.345 is available for download:

[build pulled to fix playback options -- maybe tomorrow -- thanks]
NOTE: This is beta software. For testing purposes only.

History:
1. Fixed: With Internal ASPI enabled, Media Jukebox was warning about ASPI not being installed.
2. Fixed: While adding files to playing now, Media Jukebox was starting playback even if the option was un-checked.
3. Fixed: Replay Gain analyzer was remaining engaged even after trial period expired.
4. NEW: If a file is moved from one folder to another and as a result the original folder becomes empty, the folder will be removed.
5. Fixed: The number of times a file was played was incremented incorrectly in some cases.
6. Fixed: While playing QuickTime streaming files, Media Jukebox was not showing buffering information.

<<. NEW: If a file is moved from one folder to another and as a result the original folder becomes empty, the folder will be removed>>

Change of direction? I picked up on the 'delete folder' dialogue after that thread closed, but thought JRiver was going to make it optional for both File Properties and Move/Copy.

My problem's same as ZRocker - use a target directory for EMusic downloads, TotalRecorder rips, etc., then clean things up in File Properties and relocate in the appropriate artist directories using Move/Copy. If I'm understanding correctly, I'll have to create a new holding directory (probably in Explorer) each time I complete a cycle.

I suppose I can leave a single file in the directory each time, but that assumes I'll remember to do so, which at my age is not a slam-dunk.

Didn't realize the empty folder issue was so pressing that it called for a mandatory delete, but always willing to be enlightened.

HTH - I'm pretty sure that MJ's download manager would recreate the download directory automatically if it had been previously deleted.

my TV still doesn't work.

Problem as discussed in previous posts: message "Cannot run preview graph".  Problem can be solved by replacing a dll from a previous MJ version which I unfortunately do not have.

Doesn't work for me. I've got double click action set to "Replace playing now (single)" and "Start playing when files added to Playing Now" turned on. I've got to single click and press Return.

If I double click, then go to Playing Now, the track is there but I press play, I get "Please select file(s) to play". I have to then click on the track in Playing Now then press Play.

not so much a bug - more an oddity:

clicking artist info under the playing now tree takes you to the info for the currently playing track.
clicking artist info as a button on the toolbar takes you to the highlighted track (as opposed to the one playing) - it also opens it in a explorer window.

I like the seperate behaviours (makes sense) however I don't like IE popping up.

While on the subject of browsing I notice in this version you have implemented a back button for those who have Explorer mice with way too many buttons.  Also there is a back button for fancy keyboard users.  However there is no forward button implemented on either the mouse or the keyboard, and no refresh on the keyboard.

EDIT:  ok now I'm just confused on the whole previous/back and next/forward buttons.  erm can you make it so it makes sense

Machinehead:
Do you mean the double-click action? Yes it works if I change that to "Add to Playing Now" but that's not the behaviour I want. I like "Replace playing now (single)" since it keeps my Playing Now clean.

Focus loss bug:

Clear Playing Now.
Turn off "Jump to Playing Now on playback".
Select an album or artist on the tree, not an individual track.
Press Return.
And like that, it's gone.

Double click behaviors don't work. I'd like the OLD double click and it plays back. Just double click and play.

Stop playing the current file doesn't work. Push the button and MJ keeps playing.

Went back to .343. This works well.

CD Writer has disappeared ... again.
"Detect" produces no result --- and now MJ locks up.
OK.
I got it back.
Still no CD Writer.
In defiance of all standards of decency, I'm "Listening to: 'Copacabana' by 'Barry Manilow' on Media Jukebox". Please forgive me.

Patience please.  Sometimes fixing one thing breaks another.  We'll have another build in a day or two.

Can we get these fixes by updating or do we need to download a whole new program, uninstall and reinstall.

Nikolay,

NEW: If a file is moved from one folder to another and as a result the original folder becomes empty, the folder will be removed.

Anyway of removing the thousands of empty folders it has already created over the months?  I know i am being lazy however it is such a pain to use explorer to find empty directories and then delete.

Graham :-)

this morning after the program i made found 3044 files that have been on the top 40 list from 1940 - 1999 i marked them all and did a direct entry to change the Genre to "Top 40" to my suprise MJ kept complaining that the a could not be changed 3044 times.

this is a bit redundent can't i just see it once since it never tells you what file it is and this is a pain to keep clicking on the "OK" button.

as far as if the file was open or protected they should not be.

KingSparta,

Can you reproduce the problem?  I'm also thinking about making a plug-in which will automatically click OK button.

Graham,

Maybe in next version.  The problem is that we don't have information about previous location of files.

Try program called Remove Empty Directories v1.1

Thanks Nikolay,

I have downloaded and will try - only limitation seems to be 60 character directory names.

Many many thanks

Is there a file called wnaspi32.dll in your Media Jukebox directory? If so, rename or delete it and then try re-running MJ.
Please let us know the results.
