Hi guys, I'm wondering if you can help me save a lot of time duplicating effort.
I had a crash in MC a couple of days ago. I had just imported ~5-6 music albums and about 50 movies. Upon restarting the HTPC, I was glad to see that my imported material was still there. However, all my playlists were gone. Just not there. Disappeared.
I had just upgraded to the latest public build 432, but the playlists survived that transition, I'm pretty sure. Is there anything I can do to get my playlists back. I've switched a lot of my media from NAS devices to an unRAID server, so I did have to point my playlists to other disks/shares etc., but it would still be nice to have the lists back... even just the titles would be good, so I know how I had my stuff organised.
It's not a huge deal, as I can rebuild them from scratch, but there are other things I like to do with my PCs once the wife's asleep. :)

Try restoring your library from one of the old backups. MC makes them automatically.

How about restoring a library backup? MC makes them automatically for you every other day.
Look under Documents and Settings-(Your User Name)-Program Data-J River-Media Center 12-Library Backups
Hope it helps.

Thanks, guys. I knew (or rather, expected) I could do that, but will it mean I have to re-import stuff? I imported a lot of stuff (and then moved the files from within MC) since the crash.
If I would have to import some stuff again, I think I'd rather just make new playlists. Like I said, the new organisation would have meant that playlist would have to be modified anyway. I think this is a good time to learn about view schemes and expressions.
Thanks for your help and thanks to the staff again for a great product.

you could open a library backup and look for the file called playlistx.jmd and paste that one into your current library. im not hunderd procent sure this is the right one. but it looks like it is in a small test. make a backup first.

Thanks, Gappie!

Gappie, I finally had time to try this. It worked perfectly. Thank you immensely! Funnily enough, the last default library backup was on the day that the playlists disappeared (Feb 9th). I wonder if somehow the crash that I had has stopped automatic backups, or are they just that infrequent?

your welcome. :)
i would check the backups. i think it does it every two day or something like that. when mc is running ofcource. when the backups dont work anymore, maybe your instaltion got corrupted somehow.
good luck
