is there anything i can do to fix the program to help the slow load and processor drain of the media jukebox 12.0.25. I can barely do anything else with my laptop while program is running. I am running a pentium_4 (2.4ghz) processor and 512mb ram.

Try a more recent build from the top of the MJ12 board here, but it could be a virus checker or something else going on in the background. Check the "Weird problems" thread in my signature for similar problems.
Please copy your system info from MJ Help and post it here.

Your system maybe a bit starved for memory.
XP with all it's hundreds of updates now a days really struggles on
512mb especially if you've got a few other good size programs running.
I'm running it here on a 1.4ghz machine with 1GB of memory and aprox 12,000 files
in my library and it's not causing any issues.

Yes i am running XP with AVG Antivirus and Zone Alarm firewall. I agree that the 512mb ram is probably overdue for upgrade to 1gb. I also just updated to latest version 12.0.32. When i click on mp3, song starts to play before app is loaded, which still is probably due to lack of memory. Thanks guyz, i'll check back when i get more memory..

You might also consider telling AVG to ignore the MJ library and (If you turned it on.) the log files. We do lots of reads and writes to both of those. Some AV programs will virus scan those each and everytime and take their sweet time doing it.
With Vista the directory would be here ...
C:\Users\tom\AppData\Roaming\J River\Media Jukebox 12
It is something similar to that in Xp except it starts under C:\Documents and Settings. Probably doesn't have "Roaming" in there under Xp.

Don't think it's the memory. I use MJ/MC on my Laptop with just 256MB, 1.3 GHz and at least 12,000 files in my library. I installed all XP Updates I could get and MC/MJ still running smooth here. I'd give DarkPenguins tip a try, because I had some bad trouble with some AV-Software related with MC in the past. They never found any viruses but slowed down MC/MJ extremly.

Considering how complex the interface is and the quality of the DSP I am quite impressed at how efficient this player actually is. It uses about 30mb memory and about 15% cpu when I have the interface up (Visualization in Display). Minimized or hidden the player only uses about 15mb memory and 0% cpu.
My system is a 2.2ghz AMD Athlon with 2gb RAM. Running XP Pro Sp2 with ZASS.
