Title: Upgrading from MJ12 to MC12
Post by: chuckm60090 on March 04, 2008, 04:46:02 pm
I have looked through quite a bit of postings and cannot find the answer to this really simple question.   I have MJ12 and want to install mc12, do I need to uninstall MJ12 prior to installing MC12 or will MC12 just replace MJ12
 Thanks for any info.

You can install MC12 and run it without uninstalling MJ12.  MC12 can convert the MJ12 library.

You can uninstall MJ12 later.

Thanks for upgrading.  And welcome to Interact.

Additional Question

If He Installs MC12, And Then Uninstalls MJ12 In The Past It Asks If You Want To Remove Registry And Maybe The Library Files.

If he tells it yes, will the new MC12 Library Be Safe From The MJ12 Uninstall?

No, it will not be safe if it was just opened from the old MJ12 library location.

The following is safe:

1. In MJ12:  File > Library > Back Up Library...
2. In MC12:  File > Library > Restore Library  (i.e. restore the MJ12 backup file)
3. If the default cover art location is used also the cover art files must be backed up.
(For example, copy the cover art files from MJ12's default location to MC12's default location.)
4. Uninstall MJ12 with your preferred options.

No, it will not be safe

I did not think so.
