Title: Two songs playing at once
Post by: sclem23 on March 14, 2008, 06:36:13 pm
Hello-
I have noticed that if you are playing a track and then click on another track that you want to listen to instead, the application doesn't stop the original track and begin playing the second track, but plays both at the same time.  Is this normal?  I have noticed the same thing when you try and forward to the next track.  It begins to play both songs at the same time.  TRAINWRECK.  :(

I am in my 30 day evalaution period and would like to know if this is a bug or normal functionality before I buy the software.

Thanks.

Not normal at all.  What filetypes?  Are you sure MC is playing both?  Maybe another app is also started.

More details on what you're doing might help.

This happened to me also, specifics are it was a lame encoded mp3, i played the first normally, then switched to theater view and browsed for a while, started the second and noticed the other was still playing in the background. I shut down media center, and the second stopped. but the first kept on. i opened task mamager and there was still a running process for media center , i killed it and the first stopped. the was on version 451.

Did you play both from within MC?  Or from Windows Explorer?

A few questions:

Did you enable: Options > General > Advanced > Allow multiple instances to run at once

Do you have multiple zones setup inside Media Center?

Are you using Vista or a low-privilege account?

Thanks.

@sclem23
Just to be sure... You're meaning that the playback lasts for a significant amount of time, and that it's not just the crossfade effect? A 4 second crossfade is the default for a new install of MC12. To check .. Tools > Options > Playback > Swtich Tracks  >> set this to gapless and try again.

My Answers are the same as galahad1974 to the questions that were posted regarding this issue.

yes both from within MC.
//Did you enable: Options > General > Advanced > Allow multiple instances to run at once
no, I did not enable that option
//Do you have multiple zones setup inside Media Center?
no
//Are you using Vista or a low-privilege account?
yes im using vista, but it is an admin account

Also, the entire songs are playing it's not just cross fading .  I actually got 4 songs to play at the same time today.  All I did was click on a song and then I pressed the forward button from the player and every song that I forwarded to began playing simultaneously.

Cool.  This corrected my issue.

Thanks so much!
