Title: Mouse scrolling behaviour in Theater View
Post by: fitbrit on March 17, 2008, 09:30:24 am
When I enter a playlist in Theater View, the top line is (intuitively) where the cursor is placed. However, I cannot scroll down using my scroll wheel; the thumbnails/lines begion to scroll, but immediately jump back to the top line. In order to scroll down, I have to move the cursor/highlighted thumbnail to below the top line. Then I can scroll as one would expect.
Is this a deliberate "feature"? There may be some use for it, but I don't see it in the way I use Theater View.

I think it's a bug to do with auto-scrolling. If you disable this feature (tools | options | Theater View | behaviour -> auto scroll with mouse) the problem goes away for me.

Thanks.

Thanks? You answer my question with a possible fix (will check out soon) and say thanks. LOL. Sorry... thank YOU. :)

No probs. It still seems like a bug though.

A nice bug with the option of turning it off, though.

Mouse scrolling scrolls lists if your cursor is near the edge, so I'm not sure it's really a bug.

We're open to ideas if there is some more logical behavior.

Mouse scrolling scrolls lists if your cursor is near the edge, so I'm not sure it's really a bug.

But if the cursor is on the first line, the mouse scroll wheel doesn't work. The cursor has to be on the second or lower lines before scrolling really works... unless you turn off the autoscroll.

I think I understand what's happening now. Assuming that the cursor is on the first line, you scroll using the mousewheel, but when you release the wheel, the auto-scroll kicks in and takes you back up to the top. If there were a way of disabling it when the mousewheel has been used, it would be nice, but difficult to implement to everyone's satisfaction. Turning it off is a good enough solution for me, I guess.
