Title: OT (slightly): Looking for slide scanner recommendations
Post by: modelmaker on March 21, 2008, 07:36:33 pm
I have around 5000 slides I want to digitize and need a relatively inexpensive slide scanner. Any suggestions welcome. Thanks, Jay.

Did you have any luck choosing one then?

What was your budget then?

Whatever you get get something with digital ICE or the canon equivalent.  Otherwise you'll spend your entire life dustspotting in photoshop.  The Epson V700 and V750 are very good for flatbeds.

5000 slides?  Depending on what your personal time is worth, it might be 'cheaper' to fond a pro/commercial service to get the large batch done and then buy a useable slide scanner to keep up with things as time goes on.

Same deal for someone who has 1000 CDs to rip.  Get the batch done 'commercially' and then rip new acquisitions yourself.
