but only for the album not artist or title?
-
too vague...
Got an example for us to work with?
-
I agree - vague, but I may understand.
If this refers to a situation where the library has the correct album but the file name does not (but artist and name - the typical other components of the file name are correct), then here's what I would do.
1. Make sure the option is set that updates files when library is updated.
2. Select the files
3. Using Tag window, rename the album to something different (add a "1" to name or something)
4. Using Tag window, rename the album to the correct name.
I believe the above (steps 3 and 4) will force a renaming of the files because it sees a change in the library.

Try:
Library Tools > Rename Files From Properties
As an aside, editing in the Action Window does not rename files unless you edit the Filename tag.
-
"Is there a way to rename files from properties, but only for the album not artist or title?"
Assuming WolfWalker has the properties (aka tags) correctly set and he is aware of the "Rename Files From Properties" tool I'd guess he is asking how to use the tool.
He just forgot to explain what filename structure he has now.
For instance, if it is
Artist (but not necessarily exactly the same as the library field value)\[Album]\Artist (but not necessarily exactly the same as the library field value) - [Album] - [track #] - Name (but not necessarily exactly the same as the library field value)
changing only the album part might be tricky.
-
okthis is what I got. First all artist names are correct the way I have them, I don't want MC to change anything. Second the title are also the same as the first. What I did do is change the albums from disc 1 to cd 1 so on and on. so i only want to change the the album info in the file names and directories.
-
your still going to need MC to rename the file if you want the new data in the file name.
maybe you should state what fields your using in the rule, and list some real file names from and to.
