Title: converting from .wav to .mp3
Post by: pearcheech on March 27, 2008, 09:15:58 am
I am having problems editing a mp3.  It saves it back to an mp3 in high speed.  I have selected high quality with no difference.  I have MJ 8.

Thanks for any help
Brian

The subject says "from .wav to .mp3
But your problem seems to be .mp3 to .mp3?
Not sure I understand you perfectly here.

You're right.

Maybe this is better way to explain.  When I save an audio file in media editor it writes the mp3 in high speed.  I have selected high quality but it does not make a difference.  I can save it to a .wav with no problems, but if I, then, convert the .wav the same thing happens.

What is the exact setting you want to use? How did you notice that your selected setting was not used?

Or are you trying to say that the last used setting is not sticking (i.e. the next time you use the editor you need to select the setting again)?

I used to have this problem a long time ago (back when I was using MJ8).  As far as I can remember I never managed to fix it, but didn't have the problem once I started using Media Center.
Sorry, that's probly not much help...

If the problem's the same as what I had it's this:
Open an mp3 in Media Editor.
Change something (Usual one for me was to remove silence + bonus track at the end of the last track of an album)
Try to save it back, encoding again as mp3.
Upon playing the edited track, it plays at double speed.

Hmm...

I thought that pearcheech meant the fast encoding speed option, but if the issue is about the file playing too fast the problem may be the same as here:

pearcheech,

Could you download the small wav and mp3 sample files from this post (right-click > save to disk):
http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=29944.msg206567#msg206567
and test if the problem is similar with your problem?
