Title: sound while recording on line-in from cassettes
Post by: Norm on August 03, 2002, 04:06:21 pm
Is it possible to listen to a cassette in MJ as I'm recording it through line, and, if so, do I need any special settings to do so.

Thanks, Norm

Have you found this?

I'm not sure it answers your question, but it's about as much as we know.  Someone else may know more.

NORM!,
You asked:

No. Not directly as you would through your tape deck. I'm not sure why but it's a rarity among line-in recording programs. The only one I've ever found that did it was fairly expensive. I don't recall what it was.

I have often lamented that it was not possible to monitor your recordings but I suspect it may use the same "engine" as the "DiskWriter" output feature. If you could monitor that, it couldn't output as fast as it does.

Actually I did find that it was possible.  It's just a matter of turning on the Line-In balance in the window that comes up when you double-click the Volume icon in the task bar.  It may be that MJ turns it off by default.

I'll try that. Thanks.
