Title: Noob question: Keep search results

So I'm a really new user (installed about 6 months ago, pc crashed, and now just finally re-installing)
One item that seems like I had turned on before, but I sure can't find now is this:
When I do a search through my full library, and then switch to, say a playlist or any other screen, and then return to the full library, is there a way to make the search criteria stick? ITunes does this, and I love that feature.
Does this even make sense? I'd do a forum search, but have no idea what good phrase to even search on for this...

Use back to return to a view -- it will preserve all of the view state. (back mouse button, toolbar button, backspace, etc.)
