I’m using built-in digital audio output (Realtek HD) under XP. When playing e.g. 88200 kHz tracks I noticed that the actual sample rate frequency output from the computer is the one that I’ve selected on Realtek’s control panel (44100, 48000, or 96000). I don’t know whether it is possible to programmatically set another sample rate on this Realtek device. Could some knowledgeable people explain how and when does MC request a particular sample rate from audio device, and what happens when that rate isn’t supported by the card. In particular, who and using what method is doing sample rate conversion and what actual sample rate is selected?
TIA
