Title: JRiver in AllMusic Survey
Post by: brossmac on April 14, 2008, 03:41:10 pm
Just took a survey as an "AllMusic Insider" (which just makes me someone they send email to...).

I smiled at the options to one question:

Yup, just took the same survey before i came here and of course i checked JRiver  ;D.

If allmusic.com makes the improvements it will be a lot better than it all ready is.  :)

Well, they have no excuse to NOT know about MC. They sent a cease and desist letter to one of the users here over a plugin that he wrote. :P

We also support AMG's metadata service for MediaNet Digital (formerly MusicNet).  We added this when we were working on MusicNet's service for MTV.

Well, I'm a little surprised it was mentioned, but even more by its placement in the list.  I don't see any particular organizational structure to the list (alphabetical, etc.).  So if this is the order that they came to mind, that's not too bad.

You may even get some folks who receive the survey thinking, "Hmmm.  What's this JRiver Media Center?"  And then they belong to us!!!

I think it is alphabetical, but Yahoo's player is counted as MusicMatch (which they butchered)

(And I'm glad I was able to use that AMG plugin when I had the chance ;) I do miss it, however...)

I thought that too at first, but A F J M Y W I (or "i") R W starts out alphabetical and then goes goofy.  But I can't imagine them starting alphabetical and THEN remembering, "Oh, yeah, iTunes."  ...only the most well-known music player on the planet....

Oh yeah. Woops :)
Guess I forgot about iTunes too!

Makes me wonder why AMG is interested in this info...
Will they use it in considering future partnerships or are they seeing what people want in a player, to use for their own player?
