Hi all,
I have a simple question about upnp. I found many topics that covers upnp but not a clear answer to my question.
If i stream music from MC to a supported upnp device, what will i get?
Will the device play exactly the same what MC plays, including
crossfade, volume level, equalizer settings and sound effects i set in MC?
Thanks!

No, it will not. You control what is played on the device usually by the device's remote control. I don't know of any devices that do cross fading.

It depends what the box does. MC's job is to listen for requests, and serve files to the UPnP device. Playback itself is selected and managed by the box.
In some cases, MC will convert formats in order to support the UPnP device. APE or FLAC to MP3, for example.

Thanks for the clear answers. So a upnp device is not what i want. Maybe i should build myself a silent media pc running MC only.

At the moment, I think that's the best way to get the level of control you want. But, I also think this is an area that is changing, and there will be more options in the not too far future... -- j
