Last week I made a CD with no problems. Nothing has changed in my system. Today I get the error "Cannot set drive speed". The only difference is my 30 day trial has expired. I thought there was a free version and a Plus version? Or is CD burning disabled now that the 30 days expired? Nero burns CDs fine.
Thanks!

You can still burn, but you need to set the drive speed to 2x.
-
i think max speed is 2x burn in the free version.

Thank you for your replies. I have tried all settings including 1x and still can't burn. I was about to send the $25 to get the plus version, but I won't if it is now incompatible with my system ... :-( aaarrrgh!
I loaded the latest ASPI drivers and that hasn't made any difference.
Thanks again,
alex

Does your drive support 1x or 2x? It may not.
-
my Two New burners do not support that low also.
it might be better to disable burning after 30 days, since most newer drives don't support 1x, 2x etc... anyway.
-
Oh, that would make sense, considering the error message. I didn't know that the drives do not support low speeds.
I haven't seen any guarantees in the web site that I would get my money back if it turns out it doesn't work for me. Do you know?
Thanks for your help!

Thats why there is a 30 day trial.
No Refunds.
But if it worked before it should work after.
I do not work for J River.

Thanks for all your help.
I went ahead and purchased it, then burned at 24X with no problems. They almost lost a sale by not making this clear.
Thanks again,
alex

maybe this will be corected in MJ9, thanks for pointing out the problem.

Yes, thanks. The problem was passed on to developers and we will probably make a change. We should at least report the cause better.
And thanks for your purchase!
