I keep encountering the above error, even though I am not trying to tag any files. I have a library that I share between two computer. One computer has a smaller hard drive, and so the entirety of the collection is not on that computer, but I would still like to use the same Media Center library. Does Media Center analyze content to compile statistics or something? Why does it keep trying to change the tag of the files that are in the library but not on the disk?

It may be analyzing audio in the background. You can turn this off in Tools > Options > Library & Folders > Auto-Import Folders > Options > Analyze audio

Thank you. I saw that setting - seemed the likeliest candidate - but it was under Auto-Import Folders, which I don't have any of, and it was happening to files that were already in the library, just not on the disk. At any rate, I know it must be difficult to get all the little config settings placed in a way that would be intuitive to everyone. Thanks much for the tip - I'll see if it fixes it.

It did not fix it. Is there other stuff that happens in the background that can be disabled?

Are you downloading podcasts?
-
Yes I am. That's the issue?
-
Anyone? Why would podcasts cause this issue? The tagging errors messages have nothing to do with the podcasts themselves...

Under MC Help, turn on logging. You may be able to find out what's happening.
