Title: just bought an ipod touch...

i don't want to install itunes at all. will it be possible for me to sync my ~1200 song "portable playlist" to my ipod touch without ever messing with itunes?

also, i read in the ipod touch support thread that as of version .452 video syncing wasn't supported. has this been fixed by version 497? assuming no, is there any timeframe when it will be?

No. We piggy-back on files installed by iTunes in order to communicate with the iPhone/IPT so you will have to install iTunes.

Video transfer is supported but conversion (iPod Native) is still a bit hit-or-miss.
