Title: Can't play wavpack files

My MC12 can’t play wavpack files. The following message appears:

Failed to play c:\ …
You may not have installed on your computer DirectShow filters for decoding the type of file you are trying to play.
Please install appropriate filters and try again.


1. I have downloaded the latest wavpack plug-in for MC12
2. Tools -> Plug-in Manager -> Input shows WavPack plug-in
3. C:\Arquivos de programas\J River\Media Center 12\Plugins\in_wavpack.dll
4. Tools -> Options -> File Associations has wavpack (wv) and Wv (wv) checked. (Why 2 wv?)
5. I’m using MC 12.0.512

There are two ways to play wv files - DirectShow or plugin.

Since you installed wavepack plugin, you should disable DirectShow playback.

Tools -> Options -> Playback -> Video -> DirectShow Playback Settings...

From the list on the right hand side, uncheck the checkbox for "wv".

If you want to play it in DirectShow, you should leave the above checkbox checked, and install a DirectShow wavepack decoder filter.
