Howdy!
I'm new to the board and this question may seem odd, but I'm going to ask anyway:
I already have TiVo Desktop on my PC and I'm able to stream my audio files and photos this way just fine. I also have purchased MC and notice it has a TiVo Server feature that I have finally gotten running.
What is the advantage to using the MC TiVo Service instead of the TiVo Desktop? Is there additional functionality? Is there any way to stream video files from my PC to the TiVo using this service? Any advantages?
I'm totally open to any reasons that MC TiVo Feature would be advantageous. I LOVE the program and think it's the absolute best out there.
Any help/feedback would be appreciated.

With MC, you should be able to stream playlists and smartlists and anything else you have in your library, just as you've organized it there.
I'm not sure about TiVo Desktop. We did the TiVo server several years ago when TiVo had nothing similar.

What Jim said: playlists and smartlists and all of Media Center's organizational tools.
We don't do video.
