Title: Remote Server Doesn't open from other computers?

i have a problem, i activated the remote server as the instructions said,

Access Media Center from the Web
When Remove Server is enabled on the main Media Center computer, you can access Media Center from a different computer, on the web.

On the other computer, open a web browser and type http://yourMediaCenterPCsName:theAssignedPortNumber

Example:

If your main computer's name is Hal, and Hal is running Remote Server on port 80, you control Hal's Media Center by going to http://Hal:80 on a different computer.

 

Remote Server is not password protected.


I did that exactly, and i opened the web browser on the same computer that is running MC 12, and entered the URL Correctly, it opened and i was able to control it from the web page,

BUT when i tried to access it from another computer that is on the same network at my home, it didn't work

Can any body help me???????

You may have firewall s/w running that blocks the connection.  if so, you would need to unblock the specific port that MC uses.

actually i checked that, it is not blocked, the port is listed in the open ports, and to be 100% sure, i disabled the firewall and tried it, but it didn't work

any suggessions  ? ? ? ? ?

Maybe the router is not letting packets past.

If the local test works, MC is working and it's a network problem.

Hi

I had the same problem. I activated the remote server, but I could not connect. I solved shutting down MC and started it. I think Remote server service is not started when it is configured, only when MC starts
