Title: Bug? Crashes if can't find entry in YABB
Post by: drgrigg on May 06, 2003, 11:59:39 pm
Each time I put a new CD into my computer and if it can't find the entry in YABB (this happens pretty often!), the program crashes with an application error:

"The instruction at "0x00007825" referenced memory at "0x00007825".  The memory could not be "read".

This happens on two different machines (the one at work and the one at home).   >:(

I sure am using the most current version, build 8.0.398.

It happens EVERY time.  Here's more detail.

When Media Jukebox is not currently running:  I put the audio CD in my drive, Media Jukebox starts up, tries to find the entry in YABB, fails, then crashes with the error.

If MJ is currently running, I put the audio CD in my drive, MJ tries to look up the entry, fails, then crashes with the error.

The only way I can play unrecognised discs is to make sure the audio disc is already in the drive before I (re-start) MJ and so no auto insert notification reaches MJ.  Then I can start MJ and click on the disc - MJ then searches YABB, can't find it and is OK.

not that it should crash but in MJ8 the auto insert notification should be turned off if I am not mistaken.

I take it your not using windows 2000 or windows xp

this also could be an OS\system problem.

Gateley normaly deals with YADB problems, maybe tomorrow someone can help with an idea.

Can't see why auto-insert ought to be turned off - surely the desired behaviour is for MJ to load and run as soon as you put an audio CD in the computer.   ?

I'm running Windows 2000 (both at home and the office - same crash occurs in both places).  I have the latest service packs for W2000.  I would be astonished if it turns out to be an operating system issue - no similar crash occurs for WinAmp, or Windows Media Player, for example.

It's not as if this is an intermittent problem, it's entirely and perfectly reproducible.
