Title: MediaNet Digital (formerly MusicNet) and AMG
Post by: Craig on July 02, 2008, 02:06:52 am
I see that the the bio's [in Performer MC] come from AMG, didn't someone recieve a cease and desist order for using their data in a tagging plugin some years ago? has money changed hands?

I noticed this myself. Certainly not complaining... IMHO the AMG data is probably the best on the web. But they have been quick to protect their digital assets in the past...

It was @l@n's aTagger. Best MC plugin. Ever :)

It's part of the MediaNet service (formerly MusicNet) which we use.

Jim, how much metadata does MediaNet have rights for?

Is it just Bios and Reviews? Or can they pull styles and moods etc as well? I would certainly pay a subscription for this...
How about movies? Can we expect info from AllMovies?

How much of this can we expect to see in PMC?
Sorry about all the questions... just interested to see where this is going.
(And still have hopes this will somehow make it down under :P)

I don't know the license terms or what's available to MediaNet, but we should be able to offer anything that MediaNet has.

Your questions are welcome.

How do I get the AMG bio plug in or whatever you are talking about here?  I am totally into all music info enhancements.  Sucker for lyrics, bios, pics, chart info, performers, etc.
Please point me in the right direction.
Thanks,
Dan360

You can't anymore   :(

We were wondering whether that might change with the partnership discussed above.
